Homoeopathy for Menopause

Homoeopathy for Menopause

A lot has been talked about Menopause and its vague symptoms and so commonly I am asked , whether Homoeopathy has any remedy for Menopause.!! And the answer is undoubtedly YES !!

As we all know ,

Menopause is the time in a woman’s life when she stops having menstrual periods permanently.

It’s one of the natural stages in a woman’s life in which the body adapts gradually to the changes of ovarian decline. It is not a disease but a natural transition, just like starting the menstrual cycle during puberty. Instead of gearing up for pregnancy and childbirth, the reproductive system is gradually winding down. As we age, the ovaries will produce less and less oestrogen until they produce so little oestrogen that menstruating ceases altogether – usually in the early 50.

It takes place around the age of 50 in most women,but can also occur at the age of 40. At the time of menopause, many changes occur in the body.For some women, this may be an asymptomatic process, but for the majority, symptoms do vary.  Symptoms, such as:

  • Vaso dilatory -Hot flushes,common in about 75% women
  • Profuse sweating
  • Mood swings,irritability
  • Sleep disturbance.
  • Headaches
  • Painful  intercourse,vaginitis,vaginal dryness.
  • Recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Hair loss,dry skin
  • Lethargy.

. Over the years, the changes also raise a woman’s risk of serious health problems. These include:

  • the bone-thinning disease called osteoporosis
  • high cholesterol
  • heart disease.
  • The most common treatment for menopause is to make up for the body’s reduced production of estrogen. This is done by giving prescription medicines. This approach is known as hormone replacement therapy, or HRT.

HRT for menopause is quite controversial, even in the allopathic medical world, because of the serious health risks and undesirable “side effects” of taking estrogen. Its long-term safety and efficacy remain a matter of great concern. Their own list of concerns includes:

      The most common side affects:

      • bloating,
      • weight gain,
      • irritability and, rarely, depression.
      • For the first three to six months, vaginal spotting occurs in 30% to 50% of women taking continuous estrogen and progestin.

Serious risks:

    • the increased risk of developing breast cancer (by 25% and worse in women if there is current cancer or a family history), and
    • Uterine cancer by up to eight fold in women with an intact uterus;
    • Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding;
    • Acute liver disease;
    • Gall bladder disease;
    • Pancreatic disease;
    • blood clots;
    • Stroke;
    • Heart attack.

From a homeopathic perspective it is important to establish the underlying causes of why women are struggling through the menopause with all kinds of distressing symptoms. Some the main causes can be found in the following:

  • diet
  • stress
  • shock
  • synthetic oestrogens and progesterone.

Homeopathy along with diet, nutrition and herbs can rebalance the female hormonal system that is profoundly affected by the use of synthetic oestrogens and progesterone (as found in contraceptive pills and HRT).

 Homeopathy is the safest treatment before, during, and after menopause because it stimulates the natural hormonal balance without the use of harmful drugs. Constitutional homeopathic treatment is best during the transitional period of menopause in order to balance hormonal levels and cure the many accompanying symptoms.  You cannot address the complex of these symptoms as separate from the whole individual; for this reason true classical homeopathic prescribing is highly recommended for the treatment of menopause.

 Some of the commonly prescribed Homoeopathic medicines fore menopause are :

LACH, CIMICIFUGA, GRAPHITES , IGNATIA, KALI CARB, PULSTAILLA and many more. Each of these and many other medicines need to be differentiated  and then prescribed.

A practically trained homeopath will use a structured, systematic and non-invasive approach which supports the natural self-healing process to rebalance the endocrine system so that symptoms ease and fade away.

Myth: Homoeopathy takes long time to act

Myth: Homoeopathy takes long time to act

Myth: Homoeopathy takes long time to act

Its been about 10 years that I am practising, and still I hear this comment every single day  … that Homoeopathy will take long time to show effect….etc

Homeopathy has definitely progressed ,people are more aware than before but some myths still remain…

Homoeopathy can cure the problems from the root cause….that is what it is known for .For eg . a person suffering from recurrent kidney stone… can get relief with water therapy, some medications or even surgery but the recurrence can be solved only by Homoeopathy. We cure the ailment in such a way , that recurrence is prevented…. but to achieve this , it takes some time.

The duration of any homoeopathic treatment depends  firstly on the pathology of the disease or the cause of the disease and the duration of the ailmenton .  Hence , if it an asthma since 15years, you can expect immediate relief  but to cure asthma completely will take a littletime. But relief does not take time !! In cases like cold, fever, loosemotions or pain , the medicines shows results instaneously… in a few minutes. Infact  sometimes faster than the conventional line of treatment.

So , don’t be amazed the next time you see the sweet pill helping you instantaneously… pain vainishing in few seconds  etc… I can give  a example of myself….last couple of days, I use to have severe headache on the left side ,not responding to any treatment  and  a few magic pills … did it all !! The pain literally disappeared in a few seconds and there I was ready for my daily routine …that too with no side effects and after effects …

That’s the beauty of this amazing science…. Experience it to believe it… it is literally,’ The Magic of these sweet pills’.

Benefits of Vitamin D

Benefits of Vitamin D

We have often heard of Vitamin D now a days.. and also know that it is definitely good for bones ..but there are lot many benefits of  vitamin D ,apart from it  being helpful for the bones. Here are a few of them :

Benefits of Vitamin D

Fifteen facts you probably never knew about vitamin D and sunlight exposure.

Vitamin D prevents osteoporosis, depression, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and even effects diabetes and obesity.

Vitamin D is perhaps the single most underrated nutrient in the world of nutrition. That’s probably because it’s free: your body makes it when sunlight touches your skin.

 It is nearly impossible to get adequate amounts of vitamin D from your diet. Sunlight exposure is the only reliable way to generate vitamin D in your own body.

People with dark skin pigmentation may need 20 – 30 times as much exposure to sunlight as fair-skinned people to generate the sam e amount of vitamin D. That’s why prostate cancer is epidemic among black men — it’s a simple, but widespread, sunlight deficiency.

Sufficient levels of vitamin D are crucial for calcium absorption in your intestines. Without sufficient vitamin D, your body cannot absorb calcium, rendering calcium supplements useless.

Having kidney disease or liver damage can greatly impair your body’s ability to activate circulating vitamin D.

Diseases and conditions cause by vitamin D deficiency:

* Osteoporosis is commonly caused by a lack of vitamin D, which greatly impairs calcium absorption.

* Sufficient vitamin D prevents prostate cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, depression, colon cancer and schizophrenia.

* “Rickets” is the name of a bone-wasting disease caused by vitamin D deficiency.

* Vitamin D deficiency may excaberate type 2 diabetes and impair insulin production in the pancreas.

* Obesity impairs vitamin D utilization in the body, meaning obese people need twice as much vitamin D.

* Vitamin D is used around the world to treat Psoriasis.

* Vitamin D deficiency can cause schizophrenia.

* Seasonal Affective Disorder is caused by a melatonin imbalance initiated by lack of exposure to sunlight.

* Chronic vitamin D deficiency is often misdiagnosed as fibromyalgia because its symptoms are so similar: muscle weakness, aches and pains.

* Your risk of developing serious diseases like diabetes and cancer is reduced 50% – 80% through simple, sensible exposure to natural sunlight 2-3 times each week.

* Infants who receive vitamin D supplementation (2000 units daily) have an 80% reduced risk of developing type 1 diabetes over the next twenty years.

So, get the vitamin D levels checked and take supplements or injections if  there is a deficiency !
